After all, it’s so authentically Miami… just check out the art deco designs, neon splashes and great flavors! On that note there’s Bar 820 for tropical cocktails and Cuban coffee, plus Deco Deli serving up a selection of classic sandwiches… Cuban faves included. And while Miami isn’t quite known as a pizza town, we don’t think you’ll mind that we’re serving up the cheesy stuff until 4 a.m. (Roll up your sleeves and dig in!) And like any cosmopolitan center, dining quality and variety counts big. That’s why you’ll find Cucina del Capitano and Rudi’s Seagrill restaurants in the neighborhood.

One of cruise port's busiest days was September 26, 1993, when over 45,000 tourists came to Michael Jackson‘s concert (part of the "Dangerous World Tour"). The port has capacity to accommodate the world’s largest passenger ships of Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class (LOA length 362 m, max capacity 6780 passengers plus 2400 crew). Calypso Lagoon, just to the west, is home to the sport court, the freshwater lagoon and lounging options galore. It’s home to a bar with 50 swings that let visitors dip their feet into the water, and just one of many bars serving the space and two full-service restaurants and other casual snack shacks. The adults-only area of the portal will feature a swim-up bar with a DJ, food trucks and more lounging options. Although Carnival has had onboard seafood options for years, this is a far cry from the pool deck's Seafood Shack (which recently sold me a mediocre crabcake).

Dining/Food
However, Carnival is trying to do full-production shows here, and the demand to see these shows far outweighs the available seats. Our cruise visited three ports in the Western Caribbean, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Mahogany Bay. Most of them are complimentary and exceptionally good from fan favorites like Guy’s Burger Joint and new options like Big Chicken and Street Eats. During our time on the Carnival Celebration Cruise, we discovered plenty of amenities and entertainment to stay busy on the at sea days.
Meet Carnival Celebration®
In typical Carnival fashion, its neon-blue and orange Body Wash and Shampoo are located in pump-dispensers mounted to the wall. The colors may be garish, but we actually like the scent of both. They’re not plays, they’re not exactly concerts… these shows are something else entirely. Every performances is built on amazing songs you know and love, presented like you’ve never seen before. Then they sometimes leave the stage behind, like in The Most Magnificent Circus and We Are One where they soar above the audience.
Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks
On embarkation day, we boarded the new Carnival Celebration at Carnival Cruise Line’s newly remodeled Terminal F at Port Miami. This beautiful terminal is now enlarged and designed to fit the larger Excel class ships like Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. This would be my first cruise aboard one of Carnival Cruise Line’s new Excel Class ships.

In industry-speak, how easily passengers move about a ship is called “flow”. But Carnival’s new generation of ship, powered by cleaner-burning Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technology, is also a ship of the future – and designers have thrown everything but the kitchen sink into its creation. Since your huge Suite on Carnival Celebration® affords you VIP status, you're in the priority line when getting on and off the ship… plus Suites come with exclusive perks! Here’s the most affordable way to experience Carnival Celebration®, without cutting even a single corner in the comfort department. With an Interior stateroom you’ll get a full private bathroom, your choice of bed size and layout — covered in linens you can feel at home in — all of which make this truly a great spot for curling up after a long day’s fun. The seaport is managed by Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (port authority company).
There’s also Camp Ocean on Deck 4, for kids ages 2 to 11; this area is also where you’ll find after-hours babysitting services offered. BOLT was a big deal when it debuted on Mardi Gras, and it’s still a big deal now. The second-ever roller coaster at sea, this roller coaster is situated in the Ultimate Playground portion of the ship. Others may be more familiar to you, especially if you’ve cruised on some of Carnival’s newest ships in recent years. You’ve got your celebrity and celebrity chef-endorsed offerings, such as those from Shaq (Big Chicken) and Guy Fieri (Guy’s Burger Joint and Guy’s Pig and Anchor BBQ).
As with all other "Fun Ships", the shipowner is Carnival Corporation - the world's largest passenger shipping company. Don’t Miss the Details in The Golden JubileeThe Golden Jubilee is a bar with a theme dedicated to Carnival’s history. And at first you might notice only a couple of things like the blueprints of past ships adorning the ceiling.
Sit-down dining
Carnival’s accessible price-point and high-quality entertainment also works in favor of multigenerational travel. It’s a cruise that almost everyone can afford, and cruising aboard Carnival Celebration with family and friends is a treat indeed. For some, it may very well be their first introduction to the world of cruise travel. That modern styling continues too in stateroom bathrooms, which are crisp and well-designed and finally shed the horrifying pinks and pea-soup-green plastic molding found on past ships. Gone, too, are the cylindrical showers with the clingy curtains, replaced instead by a generously sized shower with an articulated door that slides out of the way when opened.

Whether you want to watch a great show or you want to do more active things like ride a roller coaster or hit the waterpark, there’s a lot going on during the entire cruise. As someone who enjoys a more active experience, this was a welcome change. But then Carnival has put a big emphasis on things like the waterpark. The cruise line has also pushed more entertainment, including shipboard editions of shows like Family Feud and Deal or No Deal.
The port of call will open with one dock capable of handling Carnival’s largest ships, the 6,000-passenger Excel class. Starters include blue mussels, seared shrimp, oysters and the aforementioned lobster mac and cheese. Soup and salad choices include seafood bisque, fisherman's stew, house tossed salad or baby romaine with cauliflower and honey nut squash. This area wasn’t designed to seat enough guests for their current high-demand shows. The sight lines are ok for looking directly at the stage but not always for some of the show’s aerial stunts. We saw guests waiting in line for hours or saving the open seats on the higher levels to have a chance to see these fantastic performances.
The cruise port is located just 10 km (6 mi) from Tenerife North Airport and approx 60 km (37 mi) from Tenerife South Airport. The city's bus service is excellent, and it is also easy to pick a taxi almost everywhere. In early-December 2018, Carnival Corporation announced a concession agreement with the port authority company to become the operator of Tenerife cruise terminal - currently Canary Islands' newest and largest. Following the terminal operation deal, the first Carnival Corporation-owned vessel docking here was AIDAnova (December 12). Of all the nine Carnival Corp brands, 7 were scheduled to visit Tenerife - AIDA, Cunard, Costa, Holland America, P&O UK, Princess and Seabourn.
The area was revamped and renamed Celebration Central area on this ship, decorated with color-changing lights designed to look like confetti. Guest services and shore excursions have been moved out of this central area to a more out-of-the-way spot on Deck 8 aft. A nod to the address where Carnival Cruise Line was born 50 years ago, Carnival Celebration's 820 Biscayne zone is designed with a purposeful Miami vibe. Located on Deck 8 midship, this new area is a dining mecca, featuring Rudi's Seagrill (seafood), Cucina del Capitano (Italian), Miami Slice (pizza) and Deco Deli (Latin-inspired sandwiches). The area also includes Bar 820, serving Cuban-inspired coffee drinks and cocktails. Carnival Celebration staterooms (a total of 2641 passenger cabins) are divided into 22 different categories, including 2-deck apartments (duplex suites) and 80 wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers).
